Apple releases Xcode 9.3 with new features in battery usage analytics

Xcode

Yesterday was a busy afternoon for Apple, as the guys from Cupertino launched the beta machinery and released different versions for both macOS 10.13.4, tvOS 11.3 and iOS 11.3. But in addition, they also took advantage of the maelstrom of sales, to launch the first beta of Xcode 9.3 for developers.

This new beta, solves a large number of bugs that today and since the release of the final version of Xcode 9.3, at the end of December, offered the application, at the time of compile the projects made with Swift, the programming language that is increasingly fashionable among the developer community, and not just Apple.

One of the novelties that macOS 10.13.4 has brought us in its first beta, we find it in the notice that soon, applications that are not compatible with 64-bit processors will stop working. This message is shown every time we open a 32-bit application, as well as the warnings that iOS 10 showed us every time we used an application developed only for 32 bits, applications that with the launch of iOS 11 have stopped working completely.

The main novelty that comes from the hand of the first beta of Xcode 9.3 is found in a new tool, a tool that allows you to optimize the battery consumption of applications, both those designed for iOS and those designed for macOS. This version will warn developers when the application is designed to create excessive use of the CPU, excessive use that always ends up affecting the battery consumption of the device. This system will notify the developers of the performance that the applications are offering once they are in the App Store, as long as the user has the option to share information with the developers activated.
