Apple Seeks More Mini-LED Panel Makers for Upcoming MacBook Pros

When all the global manufacturers are desperate to have semiconductors to mount in their devices, it turns out that Apple needs more panels Mini-LED. It does not have enough with the production of its current suppliers, and is looking for new manufacturers to meet its demand.

This is the problem that Apple now has, as it begins the change in its devices from OLED panels to mini-LED screens. Has started with the already released 12,9-inch iPad Pro, and wants to stick with the next MacBook Pros.

Apple is having mini-LED display supply issues for its recently launched 12,9-inch iPad Pro and upcoming displays MacBook Pro, prompting the company to start looking for additional suppliers in an attempt to remedy said lack of supply.

According to a report by DigiTimesApple is looking for new suppliers to mount electrical components on circuit boards for the mini-LED displays on the 12,9-inch iPad Pro and for upcoming MacBook Pros pending release.

A single provider that is overwhelmed

DigiTimes had previously reported that TSMT would remain the sole provider of SMT (surface mount technology) for the iPad Pro and the upcoming MacBook Pro. Since that report, however, Apple seems to change its perspective on the situation, potentially realizing that demand for the iPad Pro 12,9-inch and expected demand for the next MacBook Pro may exceed the capabilities of a single vendor.

Following its launch, the 12,9-inch iPad Pro has been fairly limited in stock, with shipping times at launch in April arriving in the mid to late April. July. Due to ongoing outages due to the pandemic and global semiconductor shortages, add the shortage of mini-LED panels for the upcoming MacBook Pros. A serious problem for Apple.

The 12,9-inch iPad Pro with M1 processor was the first Apple product to feature the screen Liquid Retina XDR based on mini-LED technology, instead of traditional LCD or OLED. Apple is expected to incorporate this same technology into the redesigned MacBook Pros that launch later this year.
