Apple loses one of its most important witnesses in its battle against Qualcomm

Qualcomm trial

Apple and Qualcomm are facing a legal battle that began in the middle of last year and for now, it seems that the American chipmaker, is making things very difficult for the Cupertino-based company, since it has managed to block sales in both Germany and China, although through a quick update, it managed to avoid the blockade.

In the latest news related to the battle between the two companies, it is stated that Apple asked the court to use the testimony of a former Qualcomm engineer who finally seems to have changed his mind. The testimony of this worker could be key to the outcome of the trial, so Apple has not hesitated to accuse Qualcomm of tampering with witnesses.

According to CNET, the loss of this witness is a serious setback for Apple, as they claim, Arjuna Siva, was a co-inventor of one of the technology patents that affect this case and that Qualcomm did not give credit when it registered. But according to Qualcomm, Siva was not involved at any time in the development of that technology.

Stephen Haenichen, Qualcomm's chief engineering officer and one of the inventors listed in the patent, denied he has denied that information. When asked what contribution Siva had made, he replied, "Nothing at all." Although Siva does not plan to testify at the trial, Apple's attorney, Juanita Brooks, said she would if summoned.

Siva was scheduled to testify last Thursday, but ultimately failed to do so. Apparently, Siva changed lawyers, lawyer who He recommended that he not answer the questions asked by the Apple lawyer.

Dana Sabraw, United States District Judge, stated that I would investigate the matter, but initially stated that "there is no indication that Qualcomm had anything to do with this change of decision by Siva"
