Japan, is another of the countries in which Apple is deploying its fleet of vehicles armed with the LIDAR on the roof to map the streets of the cities of Tokyo and Urayasu. In this case, the news that comes from the Japanese media that Apple vehicles have seen on the streets, would be taking captures of them for 3D maps or even for their own Street View.
These cars obtain all the necessary data to later implement them in the Apple Maps and it is expected that Apple will continue with this task for a time in Japan, specifically it seems that the dates set by those of Cupertino they are between June and October.

Apple would be working on this type of maps for Apple maps and it is that it has been collecting images of this type for some time to provide improvements in Apple Maps. It is also true that in at this year's WWDC no mention was made of Apple Maps and this is something strange since it was an event focused 100% on software. It is possible that in time the application undergoes important changes but at the moment what they are doing is collecting as much information as possible to be able to implement it.
On the other hand, the tool continues to add information on public transport from time to time and from different cities, which is undoubtedly a good thing for everyone.
