Apple Maps mislabel some areas in Canada

It is not the first time, nor will it be the last, that we talk about a problem that Apple's map service shows us, although it is true that in recent years, the number of issues related to Apple Maps has been reduced considerably. As a reader of AppleInsider has been able to verify, Apple is showing in some regions of Canada, the name of the electoral map, instead of its common name.

In theory this would not have to be a problem, if it were not for all applications and / or services that depend on location, may offer false data or not find it directly, as in these regions when looking for weather information. It can also be a problem when geotagging photos.

Apple allows us to report any type of bugs that we find making use of both the maps and any other application. This reader sent an email to the Cupertino map makers, and received a response in which would address the problem, but being a problem in some rural areas of Canada it is more than likely that this error is not a priority for Apple.

Since Apple officially introduced Apple Maps with the release of iOS 6, removing Google Maps from its mobile device operating system, the company has faced a large number of incidents, including several people who ended up getting lost in the australian desert following the indications of Apple Maps.

All these problems ended with the bones of Scot Forstall, Chief iOS Officer, on the street. But over the years, Apple has greatly improved not only its operation, but also the type of information it is capable of displaying through its map service. Despite how well it's doing in recent years, it still has a long way to go to be a real alternative to Google Maps.
