During the presentation of the economic results corresponding to the last fiscal quarter, Apple announced that Apple Pay would soon arrive in Spain, Hong Kong and Singapore. Shortly after, it was leaked that China would also be among the countries where Apple's payments technology would land next year.

Both in Spain and in Hong Kong and Singapore, Apple has decided to reach an agreement with American Express to speed up the arrival of Apple Pay in these countries. In order to reach China as soon as possible, those from Cupertino have had no choice but to partner with UnionPay.

Apple wants to expand rapidly in the Chinese territory, where it is obtaining great benefits in sales of its devices and in order not to be left out of the different electronic payment systems available in the country, it has decided to partner with UnionPay, which together with Alibaba are the giants of the country's commercial transactions.

At the beginning of last year, those from Cupertino sat at the same table that Alibaba, to try to reach an agreement that would benefit both parties, but the negotiations broke down since there was no way to reach any agreement. At the moment we do not know the exact month in which this technology will arrive in China, but all iPhone and Apple Watch users who want to use Apple Pay to pay are available, they will only have to bring their device to the UnionPay QuickPass terminal to confirm the payment by Touch ID if we do it from the iPhone.

At the moment this service only available in the UK, Canada and Australia, plus the US. Everything seems to indicate that Apple has been forced to reach agreements with card issuers by having problems with the banks to be able to distribute the commission they obtain from the merchants that offer these forms of payment.
