Day after day we are learning data about requests for new patents filed by Apple. In this case we can inform you that those from Cupertino have applied for a new patent for the manufacture of a system that makes use of Touch ID when accessing our television or the home automation of a house if it had it available.

This new patent was presented on January 23, 2014 under the name of "Operation of electronic device using remote user biometrics", however it was made public yesterday and today it floods all the media.

It is clear that from that date Apple was already clear that it was going to make use of its Touch ID on other products other than the current iPad or iPhone. In this patent he talks about the possibility that exists of being able to make use of this technology when unlocking channels or making certain configurations in future Apple TV or TV of the company. On the other hand also there is talk of being able or not to unlock certain home automation devices in order to configure them.

In this way, different users could be identified through the touch ID and in this way, with the control of the device, the configuration of the device would be adjusted by simply putting your finger on the sensor of the control. It would be a new way to configure the devices in a very fast way depending on the person who is using it.

All this opens, for example, a whole world in terms of parental controls and that is that if the fingerprint of a child is recorded, the system knows the channels to show and the maximum time the TV could be running. There is no doubt that it is an interesting patent although, like all patents that are filed by Apple, we cannot know if it will be used in the future.
