Apple's partnership with financial institutions is beginning to bear fruit. On the one hand, Apple sells more devices compatible with Apple Pay and banks save costs by not issuing payment cards and linking customers or winning new customers attracted by this new and innovative payment system.

Today we have learned about new Apple agreements with financial institutions in the US, France and Australia. As for Spain, there is no news, but we expect new entities to adhere to the Apple agreement throughout 2017, since this action will generate significant income for the apple company. If you are the lucky one to be a client in one of these banking entities from the US, you can start making purchases with Apple Pay:

  • Bank of Central Florida
  • Bankers' Bank of Kansas
  • BankCherokee
  • Cal Poly Federal Credit Union
  • Citizens Federal Credit Union
  • Citizens National Bank of Greater St. Louis
  • Trade Bank
  • Community One Credit Union
  • Community One Credit Union of Ohio
  • Connection Bank
  • Harborstone Credit Union
  • West Credit Union
  • Morgantown Bank & Trust
  • nymeo
  • Pine Country Bank
  • Prime South Bank
  • RTN Federal Credit Union
  • Star Choice Credit Union
  • Whiting Refinery Federal Credit Union

In the case of France, as our colleague Jordi told us yesterday, it is up to  "Boon" by wirecard and the entities are added Maritime Mining and Power Credit Union Ltd. based in Australia.

However, Apple Pay has to be compatible with the establishment where we want to make the purchase. In the case of physical stores, the POS terminal must have an NFC reader. Last month we knew from Jennifer Bailey, responsible for Apple Pay, that the acceptance rate of Apple Pay in US retail trade stands at 35%. Apple also works on specific agreements with commercial chains, being the last to close the agreement with GAP stores, to support their online sales.

You may think that these entities are not in your scope of action and you have no possibility of working with them, even due to legal impediments. In that case, we want to share the list of Apple Pay agreements with banks in Europe, to see if you can enjoy Apple Pay from now on.
