The year that we just finished has been one of the most important for Apple Pay since its inception, since throughout the year has reached a large number of countries thus expanding the number of users willing to use this electronic payment technology. Regarding the use of this technology, Apple has never offered figures and depending on the company it will not offer them, so we are going to have to be guided by the information that the different analysis companies that comment on the matter can offer. According to the firm TXN, the electronic payment method Apple Pay grew by 50% compared to the previous year, 2015.
This company has analyzed the credit card bills of the banks that are currently compatible in the United States, more than a thousand. TXN has published a list in which we can see the percentage of payments made in different stores, details that we show you below: Duane Reade: 1,8%, Whole Food: 1,7%, HotelTonight: 3,4%, App Store: 1-1,5% ... As we can see the figures are still very low, but here the important thing is that usage figures are growing year after year, until there comes a time when they become the usual form of payment for most Apple users.
Based on data provided by Apple, currently 35% of retailers offer support for Apple Pay, a percentage that the Cupertino-based company is working to grow. Regarding percentages of use outside the United States, it is practically impossible to know through analysis if people are using Apple Pay or at the moment they are still not getting used to the new way of paying that the company offers us. Only Apple will have access to this data and, as is logical in its policy, it will never be released to the general public.
