Apple Pay is now available in Bahrain

Apple Pay Hong Kong

The expansion of Apple Pay continues although it seems that at a rate much more than slow than during the first years of expansion. let's remember Apple introduced Apple Pay in 2014 and it still has a long way to go, especially in Latin America and Africa. The last country where Apple's electronic payments technology is already available is Bahrain through the three largest banks in the country.

The National Bank of Bahrain (NBB), Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK) and ila Digital Bank have announced support for Apple's digital payment platform in Bahrain, a country that encompasses more than 30 islands in the Persian Gulf.

Customers of these banks will be able to benefit from "faster, easier and more secure payments", while enjoying all the advantages of their physical cards. While ila Bank and NBB will support all of their cards, BKK announced in an Instagram post that initial support it will only be extended to your debit cards, at least initially.

The launch of Apple Pay in Bahrain makes the country the fifth in the Middle East and North Africa region to receive Apple's contactless payment platform. In August, Apple Pay officially arrived in Qatar. Previously, the feature was available in Saudi Arabia, Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

A weeks ago, some users from Chile had the opportunity to add your cards by changing the region to the United States, a sign that this technology was about to reach the country. However, weeks have passed, and this technology is still not available in the country.

Let's hope it doesn't take long to do it and suppose a turning point for Apple Pay in South America.
