Apple Pay launch in India delayed yet again

In my previous article, I have informed you about the new American banks that have joined the list of entities compatible with Apple Pay in that country. Everything seemed to indicate that the expansion of Apple Pay, could add a new countryIn this case, India, one of the countries with the highest growth in all senses and which has become the target of many technology companies.

A little more than a year ago, rumors began to circulate in which it was claimed that India could start enjoying Apple Pay in a short space of time. But a year later, it seems that iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch users residing in this country, they will have to wait indefinitely again, due to the obstacles that Apple is finding in the country.

Apple's plans to offer Apple Pay in the country were to ally with the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), in order to allow users to make payments through Apple Pay regardless of bank of which they are customers, according to the Economic Times. As we can read, after holding different meetings with the main banks in the country, as with UPI, the launch of Apple Pay has temporarily stopped.

Apple is reportedly concerned about new regulations from the Reserve Bank of India, which requires companies to store their payment details on servers located in the country. Apple already complies with these regulations in other countries, such as China, but requires Apple to create new server installations in the country or to reach an agreement with a company in the country that can offer this service.

Any of the two options that Apple has at its disposal to accelerate the launch of Apple Pay in India, takes time to be able to carry it out, although logically reaching an agreement with a local company, is the fastest and the one that can cost you the least money.
