Apple Pay technology about to arrive in Belgium

Apple Pay

As the months go by, Apple continues to expand the availability of its electronic payments technology to more European countriesGermany being almost the only country, of the big ones, where it is not yet available and it seems that it will not be soon. The saying that Germans have a square head, explains perfectly that Apple Pay is not yet available in the country.

As we can read in the De Tijd newspaper, Apple Pay will begin operating in the country in November, without specifying a specific date. It will initially do so through BNP Paribas Fortis exclusively, so it is likely that it will take many months before the rest of the banks can also offer Apple Pay to their customers.

Both VISA and MasterCard cards of this bank will be compatible with Apple Pay, including the subsidiary banks of BNP Paribas Fortis as Hello Bank and Fintro. Apple Pay will arrive in the country a year and a half after Android Pay, also initially exclusively with BNP Fortis, in March of last year.

Apple Pay will have to compete, not only with Google Pay, but it will also have to compete with other payment systems that work using QR codes that have been established in the country for some time and that have become a very common form of payment among users. Initially, that users are used to using the mobile to pay for day-to-day purchases is a great advantage for Apple Pay, since it will allow it to grow rapidly among users.

Apple Pay is currently available at: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Hong Kong, Ireland, Isle of Man, Guirney, Italy, Japan, Jersey, Norway, New Zealand, Russia, Poland, San Marino, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Taiwan, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States and Vatican City.
