Apple pays more than a million dollars for the documentary on the life of Ed Sheeran

At the end of last year, my partner Jordi informed you about himthe most listened songs through the music service in streaming of the boys of Cupertino, Apple Music. Among the outstanding artists, in addition to the already tired Luis Fonsi with his Despacito, we found Ed Sheeran, one of the revelations in the world of music in recent years.

Typically, Apple buys or produces different content for its streaming music platform. To this wide and varied catalog, we have to add the documentary Songwriter, a documentary directed by Sheeran's cousin where he shows from childhood to the current time of the singer. According to the Deadline, Apple has paid just over a million dollars to get the rights to this documentary.

This documentary not only shows us Sheeran's humble origins, but also includes singers and music producers such as Benny Blanco, Ryan Tedder or Julia Michaels. This documentary will air at both the Berlin and Tribeca film festivals. Once the tour between the different festivals where it is scheduled to be broadcast is over, it will become available directly through Apple Music, according to sources related to the acquisition.

Apart from being available through Apple Music, it is more than likely that when Apple's video streaming service is launched, this and other documentaries that Apple has previously purchased or produced are also available. The streaming video service that Apple has been working on in recent years could see the light, at the earliest, in March next year, although it is more than likely that its debut will do so a few months later, perhaps in the framework of the WWDC or in the presentation of the next generation of the iPhone. For now, we can only sit and wait.
