Although it may be propagandistic, Apple has succeeded once again. In its fierce endeavor to be one of the few companies in the world with little or no environmental impact, The North American company can be pleased to be at the forefront of this movement.
Apparently Apple has created sustainable forests around the globe, and more specifically in China, to cope with the huge expenditure on paper for the packaging of its products. These forests supply and will supply the Cupertino-based company, thus allowing efficient consumption with the environment, reducing the impact of human beings on the ecosystem.
Although we are still very far from where we should be on environmental issues, Apple continues to take steps forward, and this news is nothing more than confirmation that little by little, Apple is directing its efforts in the right direction.
According to Forest Stewardship Council, body responsible for environmentally friendly forestry regulations, Apple has planted about 320.000 acres of forests in the Asian country. In this way, an attempt is made to compensate in some way for the paper expense made by the company, in all the products for sale by the American giant.
Also, with the passage of time Apple is immersed in improving its production of product packaging, reducing the size of these and increasing the use of recycled paper.
According to the regulatory body, at least two-thirds of this forest is owned by Apple, managed by Maoyuan Forestry in Hunan Province. In it there are employees trained to achieve sustainable growth and care of the vegetation.
This Chinese forestry program, debuted in 2015 with the WWF partnership as a commitment to self-reliance and sustainability for 2020, year set to convert much of Apple's production as efficient and environmentally friendly. Also in that same year, Apple began its particular crusade on North American soil, with the purchase of 36.000 acres of forests in Maine and North Carolina, achieving great results earlier this year.
Already in 2016, Apple pressured its supplying companies in Asia to commit to more efficient management and production with the environment, based on clean energy.

Hopefully this gesture will serve as an example to other companies, from the sector or not, and little by little we become aware of the damage we are causing to our planet. Initiatives like these are always welcome, but not enough.
