A few hours ago Apple announced the opening of the Kyoto store, scheduled for next Saturday. This is in addition to Apple's openings in Japan. The chosen location is Son Dori, a commercial area of this ancient Japanese imperial city since the XNUMXth century. With these features, it seems that the store has classic connotations.
But nothing is further from the truth, the design chosen by Apple is modern, respecting the Japanese style and order. We can meet all kinds of materials, architecture and tradition of the local market. And of course, large spaces to enjoy Apple products.
On the upper floor we find spaces separated by translucent screens. On the other hand, in the part of the facade at the same height, we can find lightweight wooden structures, inspired by traditional Japanese houses. In Apple's words, an image at the top of the store shows us a design on the wall that resemble a Shoji door.
Inside we find several levels. The different spaces converge with a central meeting area, where meeting meetings are expected to take place. Today at apple. The rest of the floors have the well-known wooden tables of the Apple Store around the world. In them we will find any product, as well as tables prepared for demonstrations. In the central part we find a large screen, which Apple announces us to have a 6K resolution.
The Kyoto store will be a benchmark, not only in Japan but also in the expansion promoted by Apple in Asia. This will be a relevant store for Apple, but in the words of Angela Ahrendts last March:
The company intends to reinvest in the country with the opening of several new stores.
The first store that will possibly open its doors after Kyoto will be Shinjuku, which began construction plans last April. This project, launched by Apple, will last for the next 5 years. In the words of Ahrendts:
Apple has a long and special history in Japan, and Shinjuku is the first of several new stores that we will open in Japan in the coming years. We can't wait to welcome the fledgling Shinjuku community to experience all the best that Apple has to offer.
Japan represents 7% of its sales for Apple, which is why the company will contribute all its efforts in the coming years.
