Apple Proposes 50/50 on News Subscriptions

Apple News

The service that we still do not have active in our country and in all those who do not speak English basically, would be being improved and launched globally next March. This according to the presentation rumors that we have in mind for a few days about a event for March 25 in which the paid version of this app would appear.

News is making the news these days and it seems that the Cupertino company is already negotiating with various media so that they reach the app directly. The fact is that what has transpired the most is the percentage that Apple will take from the media that want to come out in this media agglomeration, 50% of the income generated.

It is not entirely clear how many publications will reach News but it is clear that those that want to appear will have to go through Apple's rules and pay half of the income they obtain from user subscriptions. This may seem like a lot of money when you consider the number of subscribers who may be interested in having this "Netflix" of the news and it really is.

Would you pay € 10 to have all the press media in one app? This is a symbolic price and obviously the subscription prices may be different, but we do not think it will go very far considering that US subscribers to the Washington Post, Wall Street Journal or the New York Times pay between 10 and $ 35 a month. Subscriptions there are the order of the day and we would not be surprised if it is a price even higher than the one we mentioned in the initial question.

We will see what all this is but it is true that 50 percent of the total of each one of the subscriptions seems to us too high a price for smaller media that would gain visibility from being in News, but they would clearly lose much more than Apple for being on this platform. We will continue to see the progress of this but it does not look very good at the moment.
