Many are the updates that we are having before the end of the year. Apple just released a new update for OS X users that adds support for new professional video codecs. This is version 2.0 and is available on the Mac App Store for all Mac users.
Apple released a new version last Wednesday to add format compatibility RAW with more digital cameras, for a while developers already have available for download the new safari version 8.0.3, 7.1.3 and 6.2.3 beta and now the new video codecs arrive in another update.
Actually Apple is closing the year with quite a few updates and it is something you usually do before christmas every year to 'not get your fingers caught' on company holidays that are not releasing new updates. Now the new video codec support update adds:
- Apple Intermediate Codec
- Apple ProRes
- HCV-Intra
- DVDCPRO-HD
- HDV
- XDCAM EX/HD/HD422
- MPEG-IMX
- Uncompressed 4: 2: 2
Plus the new update offers a new compatibility with the MXF format that allows us to natively import, edit and compare these types of files with the Final Cut Pro X and Motion editing programs. Allows setting to share this file format with Compressor and export MXF OP1a files.
We are not clear if the guys from Cupertino plan to launch a new version of OS X or iOS before the end of the year, but if there were rumors about a new version of iOS before the end of the year and this could also precipitate the launch of a new one. OS X version, at the moment there is nothing confirmed.
