Apple releases Safari Technology Preview 55

Safari Technology Preview

Apple continues with updates to both its systems and applications. In this case it is the turn of Safari Technology which reaches version 55. This browser allows developers (and curious) to test the functions that Apple you are creating for your browser on iOS and OS X in beta.

Safari Technology Preview is Apple's new browser based on the traditional Safari. The difference is that the new browser, with a purple icon and leaving aside the traditional sky blue, is focused on developers so they can test their extensions and websites.

By releasing an experimental version of Safari, Apple seeks to collect feedback from developers and users about the development process of your browser. Safari Technology Preview can be run alongside the existing Safari browser and although it is designed for developers, it does not require a developer account to download.

What's new in version 55:

  • Added support for calc () in webkit-gradient and cross-fade
  • Changed: Active pseudo-class to disable when using pressure sensitive touchpad
  • Default value is ignored when serializing font-feature-settings
  • HSL and HSLA analyzes updated to match CSS Color 4
  • Web api

Safari Technology Preview

We will continue to pay attention to what the developers can point out but we are sure that this new version of Safari Technology Preview improves substantially on version 54 that was not long ago put into circulation. Remember that, as I have told you, you can download this version of Safari even if you are not a developer.
