In November of last year and after a series of problems downloading applications from the Mac App Store, I jump the news that Apple would start to issue a new certificate which would extend the validity of the existing one until February 2023, specifically we are talking about the so-called "Apple Worldwide Developer Relations Intermediate Certificate".

Now we know that the deadline to install this new certificate will be on February 14In this way, developers can continue to include in their applications the features of Push notifications and Safari extensions in addition to the Apple Wallet cards since it is completely mandatory to be able to sign the applications. Due to the approaching deadline, Apple is already advising developers of the need to update this certification.

Apple has already issued a press release on its website which highlights the following:

To protect customers and developers, it is necessary that all third party apps, both the Apple Wallet passes, as well as the Extensions and Push notifications in Safari as well as the application the purchase receipts in the Mac App Store are signed by a trusted certification authority. Certification authority for Apple Worldwide Developer Relations issues the certificates to be used to sign your software on Apple devices, which enable our systems to confirm that your software is delivered to users as intended and has not been modified.

They also indicate that because installing the certificate for projects already developed can cause some implementation failure, you can use the following link to see how it should be done. Still, they emphasize that all bugs have to be solved before February 14, otherwise, the integrated features that need notifications, extensions ... will stop working.
