Apple restricts access to the Apple Store Online to newer versions of macOS and Safari

Safari

Over the years, it has been proven that there is no operating system that is 100%. The same happens with certain applications, such as browsers, which are the main source of entry for malicious software due, sometimes, to security issues.

When it comes to accessing web pages where a specific secure connection is required, due to the appropriate personal data, these usually have a series of minimum requirements to be able to use this shopping service. In this sense, Apple has just increased minimum requirements for both macOS and Safari to access the Apple Store Online.

OS X Yosemite

According to the Japanese media Mac Otakara, last Friday he encountered an error message when trying to visit the Apple website with a Mac and a version of Safari with a few years, showing the poster "Browser version not supported".

If we use third-party browsers, we encounter a limitation, since it is not possible to visit the official Apple website. using a Mac that is managed by OS X 10.10.

The minimum requirements to visit the Apple website are the following:

  • Safari version must be 10.1.2 or higher.
  • The operating system that manages the Macs that try to access the Apple Store Online must be OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite

If you have an old Mac that still does its job, you do not intend to renew it simply because you cannot access the Apple Store Online, you should keep in mind, that it is now the Apple store, but in the future there may be other web pages that limit access from old computers.

If you are thinking of renewing your Mac, a few hours ago, my partner Jordi has published an article in which you can find the MacBook Air 2018 with a discount of 20%.
