Even if you don't like video games, surely you have heard about the controversy that arose between Epic Games and Apple. Due to the charges that the video game company wants to make directly through its Fortnite website, something that is not allowed by Apple if you have an application in the App Store, both companies have sued. Epic Games has lost its developer account and Apple claims that This is all just a publicity stunt.
According to Apple, Fortnite is a video game that is no longer in use. The trend is downward and the figures are not deceiving. In October 2020, interest in the game has decreased by 70% fewer registrations compared to the same period of the previous year. Epic Games wants to recover new members and the way it has found to do this is to fight against Apple.
Those of Tim Cook say that Apple is not the main source of income that Fortnite generates for Epic Games, much less iOS. What happens is that it is better to create an event called #freefortnite and allege that they are fighting against an "injustice" to face reality of lower income and low popularity ratings of the game.
Apple alleges to the judicial authority that what is happening with the Epic Games campaign is the opposite of what they allege. They say that the video game company is being harmed and yet with all this controversy what they want is to seek new income and new registrations. So it is not being harmed, on the contrary, you are generating a profit.
Epic started a fire and poured gasoline on it, and is now asking this Court for emergency assistance to put it outAlthough Epic can do it on its own in a flash simply by adhering to the contractual terms that have profitably governed its relationship with Apple for years. This Court was correct when it previously ruled that self-inflicted injuries are not irreparable damage.
Do you think Apple is right with this argument?
