Apple TV + is estimated to have already surpassed 40 million subscribers

An estimate of the number of subscribers that Apple TV + can have has been published, and they place it at a figure that exceeds the 40 million late last year. To me honestly they seem few, very few.

Few for a company that has a billion active iPhones around the planet. One billion Apple users, of which only 40 watch Apple TV +. And surely of those subscribers to the platform, the vast majority still have the free year promotion active if you have bought a new device in the last two years.

According to a report published by Newsweek, Cover Analysis, a company specializing in market analysis, estimates that subscribers to Apple's streaming video service may have passed 40 million by the end of 2020. This would represent a growth of more than 6 million users compared to 2019 figures.

The report also notes that, according to a recent survey of Variety, up to three-fifths of Apple TV + subscribers continue to receive the service for free, thanks to Apple's promotion of the year for free to its platform if you buy a new device.

Apple TV + hasn't revealed what its current subscriber count is, but according to Ampere Analysis, the platform had 33,6 million users at the end of 2019, and it is estimated that it would have reached 40 million by the end of 2020.

Many of your subscribers remain unpaid

This increase in the number of subscribers is explained by the fact that Apple give a year Apple TV + with the purchase of new devices. It is calculated that more than three fifths of the subscriptions are not paying for the service.

It is difficult to know exactly whether these estimates are very accurate or not. Apple never explains the exact number of subscribers to any of its individual services like Apple TV +, Apple Music, or Apple Arcade. However, it recently revealed that the company had exceeded the 660 million of paid subscriptions adding all of their services.

In short, if the numbers are true and Apple TV + has just over 40 million subscribers (paying or not), it is still far behind the big two, Disney + y Netflix, which have passed 100 million and 200 million subscribers, respectively, and these are paid, although some of the Netflix accounts are shared. For now
