Apple Vice President of Communications Steve Dowling Leaves Company

Steve Dowling.

In recent months, we have seen some of the most important people in the Cupertino-based company have left Apple offices to tackle other projects. Jony Ive and Angela Ahrendts they are two of the most important people ever to get off the bandwagon.

At the exit of Ive and Ahrendts is now added that of Apple Vice President of Communications Steve Dowling, who leaves the company after 16 years. Like Ahrendts, Dowling has to dedicate himself to his family for a while before facing new professional challenges.

Dowling's departure will occur at the end of October, to assist in the transition to the new person taking over this position, although initially it will be Phil Schiller who will take over. According to various media, Apple has already contacted several possible candidates, both within the company and outside.

Here is the statement that Dowling has sent to the employees who report to him as Apple's vice president of communications:

After 16 years at Apple, countless keynotes, product launches, and the occasional public relations crisis, I have decided that the time is right to step away from our remarkable company. This is something that I have been thinking about for a while and that has been highlighted during the last - and for me, the last - release cycle. His plans are set and the team is executing brilliantly as ever. So, it's time.

Phil will lead the team on an interim basis starting today, and I will be available until the end of October to help with the transition. After that, I plan to take a long period of time off before trying something new. At home I have a patient and understanding wife and two beautiful children who are flourishing in their teens. I am looking forward to creating more memories with all three while I have the opportunity.

My loyalty to Apple and its people has no limits. Working with Tim and this team, accomplishing everything we have done together, has been the highlight of my career. I want to thank you for your hard work, your patience and your friendship. And I wish you every success.
