The ECG of the Apple Watch now available in Colombia with the launch of watchOS 7

The ECG function of the Apple Watch saves a life in Euriopa

With the launch of the Apple Watch Series 4, Apple launched the ECG function, a function that allows us to take an electrocardiogram to obtain information on the heart rhythm and detect possible anomalies and inform us if we suffer any type of arrhythmia such as atrial fibrillation. Since now, many have been the people who have saved their lives thanks to this function.

It took two years for this role to reach Colombia, as well as other countries such as Israel, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, a role available after install the latest version available for the Apple Watch which was officially launched yesterday afternoon (Spanish time): watchOS 7.

This function, available from the Apple Watch Series 4, analyzes the functioning of our heart through electrical impulses for 30 seconds and stores this information in the health application, information that we can export in PDF format for our doctor to analyze.

The only Spanish-speaking countries where the ECG function is available besides Colombia are Spain, Chile and Puerto Rico. Mexico, one of the Spanish-speaking country in Latin America that has an Apple Store, does not yet have this feature available and at the moment there is no expected launch date.

For this functionality, Apple needs the approval from local medical authorities, an approval that it seems they are having a hard time obtaining in most Latin American countries, since in Europe, for example, it is available in all countries and in most Arab countries.

With the launch of the Apple Watch SE, Apple wants to reach a greater number of potential customers, but it should be remembered that both the ECG function and blood oxygen monitoring that have come from the hand of the Series 6, they are not available on the SE model.
