The Apple Watch is still the best heart meter when it comes to wearables

A new study from Stanford University confirms that the Apple smart watch is still one of the best devices for measuring our heart rate compared to other devices that we have on the market today. Obviously we are always talking about devices outside the medical field, watches and bracelets sold to users nowadays and thanks to their sensors they can measure the calories we burn or the heart rate.

This study has been based on 60 people and all of them have undergone the use of different devices that have the same function as the Cupertino clock itself, in addition to offering information about notifications that reach us on the mobile device, they measure our heart rate or roughly calculate the calories we spend exercising. In this case they have compared the Apple Watch with the Samsung Gear S2, the MIO Alpha 2, the Microsoft Band, the Fitbit Surge and some more, being the winner in terms of general measurement accuracy the Apple Watch.

In this case, the study speaks of an error rate of just 2% on the measurement of a professional team and when comparing with others the Samsung Galaxy Gear S2 had an error rate of 6,8%. The differences between the measurements carried out by these 60 people were more contained while they were cycling, while when these volunteers were running, the measurement errors were higher. Regarding the measurement of calories burned during physical activity The Fitbit Surge was the most accurate, leaving the Apple Watch behind and to the rest of the competitors, the closest in this measurement to the Fitbit quantifier was the Microsoft Band and lastly the PulseOn.

It is already the second study carried out on the heart sensor of the Apple Watch in a short time and there is no doubt that in this sensor it seems to have no rival. So good work from Apple in this regard and to improve the rest of the measurements in the following versions.
