Many companies have reinvented themselves in the midst of the pandemic to get ahead and have managed to move their business model towards facial hygiene measures. Apple, however, has not been one of those companies. At least for now.

One of the almost essential requirements to be able to stop coronavirus infections is to practice facial hygiene, that is, to use a mask in combination of frequent and thorough hand washing as well as social distancing. There are other recommendations, how to avoid crowds, closed spaces ... precisely in these is where the mask is most necessary. One of the questions I have asked myself several times since March is why Apple hasn't made its own masks and put them up for sale. Knowing the care with which it designs and manufactures its devices, the Apple mask could be one of the safest on the market, as well as comfortable and of course, technological.
Time has passed and there has been no news about the "Apple Masks", until a couple of days ago. Apple will distribute reusable hygienic masks among its workers, to prevent coronavirus infections. Could Apple start selling its own masks? In my opinion I do not see it feasible
It is a risky question, because it seems that we will have to carry them for quite a while longer. People look for masks capable of avoiding contagion in both directions. We also look for comfort and that if possible they can be reused, and not having to be spending a salary on them.
Apple could perfectly manufacture its own masks that from what we see are already designed. However, even if there is time to continue using them, I find it strange that Apple joins the "party" so late. In addition, the masks designed right now are not new nor do they incorporate any technological novelty as some examples that are already circulating on the networks.
I do not think Apple is looking to start in this market, if it has done so it is for the benefit of its workers. So that they do not spend money out of their pockets and also wear exclusive masks that have not been seen before giving a very typical feeling of exclusivity of the company. But that is very different from selling reusable hygienic masks.
We know that Apple has collaborated in the creation of the ClearMask. A transparent mask that allows use on deaf people. That way lip reading is made easier in conversations. That is more Apple style. Creation of aid programs for the most disadvantaged people. We have seen it on several occasions during the pandemic. Apple's mask would have to be technologically the best
If Apple made a face mask, tIt would have to be technologically efficient, simple and very spectacular. At least that is expected of the company in everything it does. There is no material time to create a mask with these characteristics. Other companies have done it, Xiaomi, Smsung, have their own models, but in reality they are masks with carbon filters that according to many users do not add anything extra to the existing ones.
If they had to make a mask, they would have to sell a product with some revolutionary system. I insist that there is no time. That doesn't mean I don't keep researching and one day I may be able to create the perfect mask. And that day, will be when Apple where its technology to those most in need. At least I hope so.
