Apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook has stated that his company will make a donation to assist in the recovery of the affected area and for the recovery and relief efforts of the Gulf Coast region, area that has been affected by Hurricane Michael.
Hurricane Michael hit the Florida coast a couple of days ago causing widespread devastation due to the winds of up to 250 kilometers per hour. Later it traveled to Georgia, also affecting Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.
When Hurricane Michael hit Floria it was classified as a Category 4 storm, the strongest to hit the United States since Hurricane Andrew. After the passage of Michael, many areas have been without electricity without counting the large amount of material damage that has caused in the affected areas.
Tim Cook has not mentioned how much he will donate to help in the recovery of the devastated area, but if we take into account recent donations, the aid is likely to reach a million dollars, although because this hurricane has been more devastating, it is likely that that number will increase.
Hurricane Michael has left behind its passage through the United States, at least 17 dead in the four states that have been affected. More than 2.000 members of the Florida National Guard and 3.000 other members of the Federal Emergency Management Agency are already in the area helping with recovery and rescue tasks, as the death toll could increase in the coming hours.
