Apple to remove iTunes Store support for first-generation Apple TV in May

We know from a document published by Apple in the last hours, the decision by the company of cease iTunes Store support for the first generation Apple TV as of May 25. It does the same with Windows XP and Windows Vista.

The reasons offered by the company are security updates. En el document, discovered by MacRumors magazine and later by other media, explains that Apple will incorporate security measures as of May 25. This does not imply that these computers can run iTunes, but Apple will not update the application.

Starting May 25, Apple will introduce security changes that will prevent older Windows PCs from using the iTunes Store. If you have a PC with Windows XP or Vista, your computer is no longer compatible with Microsoft and you will not be able to use the latest version of iTunes.

You can continue to use older versions of iTunes on your Windows PC without the support of Apple. However, you will not be able to make new purchases from the iTunes Store or redownload previous purchases on that computer.

And within the Apple ecosystem, the first generation Apple TV, will not be able to access the iTunes Store either. However, Apple declared the first-generation Apple TV obsolete in 2015. Therefore, Apple's move in this regard should come as no great surprise to users.

Also starting on May 25, security changes will prevent Apple TV (1st generation) from using the iTunes Store. This device is an outdated Apple product and will not be updated to support these security changes.

After the changes, you will only be able to access the iTunes Store on Apple TV (2nd generation) or later.

It is true that the first generation Apple TV is a team with a few years behind it. But it is also true that this decision comes after many comments about the future of Apple TV have arisen. The main task was to be the multimedia center of the house and to this day you're looking forward to the fresh air that can come with Apple's streaming service to lift your head.
