Purchased app not listed as such

Taking a tour of the Apple application store the Mac App Store I noticed a small problem with an application that I have purchased. This problem can make a user a little clueless buy the application twice and that is does not appear in the online store as purchased.

The fact is that I saw an ad about the Apple GarageBand application in which it is offered the possibility of carrying out the purchase of more instruments and improvements for an interesting price in addition to collaborating for a good cause (Red campaign) and I said, I'm going to buy it. So far so good, but when I access the online store I realize that I do not have the GarageBand application installed (I continue to install the applications little by little after updating to Yosemite) and when I search for it in the store I Only the option to buy it appears and not the option to 'Install' or 'Open'...

I knew that this application was downloaded to my Mac because I had previously used it, the fact is that the application was 'allowed to buy' and that seemed strange to me. Then, knowing that all the applications we have purchased with our Apple ID appear in the list called Purchased, I looked for it and there it was.

It seems to me that it is an exclusive problem with this Apple application, because in the other applications that I have installed on my Mac, the option 'Open' appears or, failing that, 'Install' from the app store itself. Did something similar happen to you with any other application?

Something similar happened to me with iMovie and iPhoto in the AppStore on my iPad.
I gave him to buy and when he asked me to confirm the purchase I rejected it and he allowed me to install it without further problems.

The same thing has ever happened to me, but when I made the purchase, Apple tells me that the application has already been purchased and that I want to reinstall it.
I don't know if it has changed, but sometimes these things happen, which create confusion.

I have the same problem. I just formatted my mac with OS X Mavericks and when I wanted to install iLife I could only download iPhoto and iMovie but Garageband appeared to me for a fee. I did what, you download it from the purchased section but it only lets you download an old version and not version 10 which is the most recent. I think it is not an Apple failure but if you want the most recent version we will have to buy it :(.

Hi David, no, don't buy it again. First install the old version which is the one that appears in the 'purchased' section and then it will ask for the update. Greetings and tell us 😉

Hello Yordi, it asks me to update but it sends me to the mac app store page and asks me to buy it. I think maybe it's because of having mavericks and not yosemite but honestly I don't like yosemite so I'll leave it like that, I hardly use GarageBand anyway thanks for the info.

Hi David, you can always cancel the purchase in case you don't want the App. But that's up to you.

          Greetings 😉

Hello, I see that you have the «Black magic disk speed test» installed; Do you know what it is for? I see an update of it but I never installed it, and when I update and delete it, it does the same again. I have no idea what it is for and even less because it was installed on my computer.

      Hi Carlos,

Yes, the application is used to carry out reading and writing tests on your Mac's hard drive. I was able to uninstall it from the Mac, I don't currently have it installed so it tries to delete it and if it doesn't let you I would use third-party applications such as is: https://www.soydemac.com/appzapper-aplicacion-para-eliminar-aplicaciones-en-os-x/

      Regards!

Before the garageband had the last paid version and also the imovie, notes and others that are paid. the problem is that I do not find any in purchased apps. What I do? do I have to buy them again?

Hello! For some reason, I have kept two versions of Garage Band, 6.0.5 and 10.1.2. I would like to delete the oldest one, but in Applications only the latest one appears. Any advice? Thanks!
