For a long time TextExpander has probably been the most reliable option when it comes to expanding text, but the arrival of new options is expanding the market considerably and aText has positioned itself as a very interesting alternative thanks to two basic characteristics: reliability and price.
Very complete
Although for the price we can come to think that aText is going to be an application less complete than its rivals, the truth is that it will be very rare that it does not have something we need. We can configure different groups of shortcuts with their corresponding elements, as well as advanced options such as activation in only some applications or if we want to capitalize the extensions in new paragraphs.
AText is also surprised by its fabulous speed when carrying out the expansions, especially with very long texts. On the other hand, the operation is worse when we place the cursor at a specific point after the expansion, resulting in slow and, above all, inaccurate positioning, a problem that most text expanders suffer from.
On the other hand, the application has an import tool -in case we go from another application- and export, as well as with synchronization in the cloud, an option that includes iCloud for totally transparent synchronization and without dependency on external services.
We must remember that OS X incorporates a text expansion tool in its options, but it is really limited and if we need something else we will have to look for an alternative. This app fully complies, so welcome to the club, aText.
