Security companies Symantec and FireEye say 2016 an increase in the number of attacks against Apple systems is expected to begin. In a certain part, it is logical since the popularity of these systems is gradually making them scratch ground on other more "globalized" systems such as Android or Windows.
Dick O'Brien, a Symantec researcher, confirms what I was saying, that is, the increasing number of attacks is part of the continuous increase in popularity of Apple devices. This year, the number of Mac computers infected with malware was seven times higher than throughout the year 2014 and that's only if we take into account that this statistic was taken in September.
However, users should not be too concerned, as the number of attacks is much lower than the one that occurs for example in Windows system and according to O'Brien himself:
Don't be alarmist […] Apple is still a relatively secure platform, but users can no longer be as complacent about security as they used to as the number of infections and new threats is on the rise.
On the mobile systems side, 96 percent of malware It is aimed at Android devices. Yet Bryce Boland, CTO at FireEye, echoes Symantec's concerns, stating that more and more attackers are:
They seek ways to break through Apple's walls, next year the attacks will increase exponentially
Both companies point out that Apple Pay is likely the platform on which will focus most attacks, although they acknowledge that there has not yet been any system security attack make it effective in this service.
In my opinion as an Advisor, Apple should start doing something to avoid adware in OS X, I have already seen many cases of people being deceived because of this and I am sure that Apple does not want calls like the ones that are dan at Microsoft
