Bob Iger steps down as Disney CEO after leaving Apple due to conflict of interest

Disney announced at the beginning of last year, its commitment to a streaming video service called Disney +, a service that began its journey in November of last year. During the months leading up to the launch, many were the rumors that pointed to Bob Iger's position on Apple's board of directors, was not compatible.

No sooner said than done. Last September, two months before the launch of both Apple TV + and Disney +, Apple announced that Bob Iger was stepping down from his seat on Apple's board of directors, due to conflict of interest which meant that the company for which he is most responsible, Disney, would enter the same market as Apple.

Now it is Disney itself who has officially announced that Bob Iger, CEO of Disney leaves the company with immediate effect. Bob Chapek, head of the company's amusement parks, will be in charge of temporarily replacing Iger until 2021.
