Brexit forces Apple to raise its prices in the United Kingdom by 25%

Since we learned about the decision of the people of the United Kingdom after last year's referendum where they voted to leave the European Union, we knew that little by little social and economic repercussions would arrive. And, after Brexit, Apple has been forced to raise taxes, for the moment, of its App Store.

This measure is the response of the North American company to the depreciation that the local currency, the pound, has suffered since that referendum. Apple has decided as of today to raise the price of Apps by 25%. For example, an application that until today cost £ 0.79, from now on the price will increase to £ 0.99.

This rise, reported today, affects two other countries, India and Turkey, although the UK is where the most significant rise is foundIt is also one of the most important markets for Apple in Europe.

For now, Apple has only focused on raising the prices of applications in the App Store. However, and despite the fact that already in October of last year there was an increase in prices on Apple devices, this makes us think that the company's hardware could presumably also be affected by this measure, having Macs, iPads and iPhones more expensive sometime this year.

At the moment, only developers of the iOS and Mac App Store platforms are being notified by the Cupertino-based company. Nevertheless, this upload will surely apply to the iTunes ecosystem in the near future.

The Californian company does not expressly identify Brexit as the main reason for the price increase that is taking place in these countries. However, it is not the first company to run this type of hike in order to run a sustainable business. Already last year, companies like OnePlus, Tesla or HTC raised prices in response to the rapid devaluation of the pound in the British Isles.
