Caliber, the total manager for your eBook reader

I recently bought an Amazon Kindle 3. I had wanted to have one for a long time, but the lack of time - nowadays either you have too much or you lack it - prevented me from reading with the calm and concentration that some books require, something that I am finally going to be able to do in summer. But for this I needed a complete eBook manager, and the solution above is free.

The total application

With Caliber you'll be glad to have a Kindle - I don't know if it goes so well with other eBook readers - and it's that functions such as automatic RSS download (and subsequent sending by email to the Kindle) are wonderful, allowing you to get up from bed and get the latest news from the sources you choose on your Kindle ... and above you can create your own newspapers with personalized feeds.

But it is much more than that: it allows you to convert books to dozens of formats, catalog them, edit them and transfer them to devices over the Internet or via USB… a true marvel of application that has two things that can be greatly improved.

Design and consumption

I would never buy a car that consumed a lot and was not well designed. Maybe if I would only do the first (because I have), but with Caliber both things are true.

Caliber's design could qualify it as "2003 or earlier", and in terms of memory consumption, simply say that it works in Java, and everything that uses Java in Mac OS X triggers memory consumption when performing tasks.

There are two gaps that unfortunately load a little bit the excellent performance that the app gives, but that will surely improve. Long live free software.
