Carpool Karaoke Wins First Emmy for Apple

Last July, during the announcement of the nominees for the Emmy Awards, the Cupertino-based company was pleasantly surprised, since one of its first bets on streaming video, Carpool Karaoke, had been nominated within the Outstanding Short form Variety Series category, being one of the surprises that attracted the most attention.

And I say it was a surprise, because this spin-off directed by James Corden, had not obtained the approval of both critics and the public, since the original format had changed and the presenter, Corden, does not appear in almost any of the episodes that were recorded. Still, Carpool Karaoke: The Series has won the Emmy Award within the category in which it was nominated.

Carpool Karaoke prevailed over Saturday Night Live, The Daily Show and Tonight Show, some programs that have been on the television grill for many years and that surely they will not have sat at all well that a new competitor has entered the market. Carpool Karaoke executive producer Eric Pankowski told The Hollywood Reporter that he was excited to be a part of Apple's first-ever Emmy for creating original content.

Really, this not the first Emmy the company has won, although if as original content, since it has won several of these awards through its commercial advertisements. Without a doubt, this is excellent news for Apple, and it is one more incentive for the company to continue investing in creating original content for its future streaming video platform, a platform that will not be released until March of next year at the earliest. Although it will probably be a few months or even a year late, if you look at Apple's continued delays in launching both new products (AirPower) and new features (AirPlay 2), to name two examples.
