When it comes to customizing our equipment, Apple is characterized by offering us greater freedom than we can find in iOS, as well as a much easier way to do it, if we compare it with Windows, at least in some aspects, such as change the icons that represent icons or folders.
If you have tired of always seeing the same folder icons, that said blue color, or you want to change the icon that represents that file in this article we are going to show you how we can replace the icon with any image, without having to use third-party applications, as long as it is an image and not an icon that we want to show.
If it is an icon, in the Mac App Store we can find various applications that offer this function quickly and easily. But to change the icon for other images, no need to resort to third-party apps we just have to follow the following steps.
Change the icon of folders or files to images
- First of all we must open the image we want to use with Preview.
- Next, we just have to select the part of the image that we want to use as an icon that represents the folder or file in question and click on Edit> Copy.
- Now we will go to the properties of the file or folder, pressing CMD + I Once we have selected it, a window will open with the properties of the file or folder.
- To modify the icon of the file or folder, click on the icon that currently represents it and click on Paste Edition.
At that moment, the icon that represents the file or folder will show the image that we have established. This process is very simple and hardly requires high knowledge of macOS, so you can do it anyone with basic knowledge.
