Change iCloud to local as the default destination in TextEdit

On many occasions we need save our documents in different locations, more than anything for convenience issues to access them from different places where we move in our daily routine or simply to be able to use them with different different devices and not have to store them locally in each of them.

The OS X text editor offers us the option to save our documents in iCloud as the default destination by default Whenever we try to save the file and thus, every time we want to change the save location either for privacy reasons or because we do not want to upload it to the cloud directly, we must select the disk drive.

Today I bring you a way to directly change the location of iCloud default save, to the default disk drive without having to use any external program or change anything every time we try to save the document, just enter a couple of commands in the system terminal. This does not mean that nothing can be saved to iCloud anymore, it simply we will change the location being able to reverse the action at any time.

To do this, we will go to utilities and look for the terminal. Once opened, we proceed to enter the following:

defaults write NSGlobalDomain NSDocumentSaveNewDocumentsToCloud -bool false

With this we will achieve that each time we press File - SaveIn any document, show us the hard drive as the first option.

If you prefer on the contrary to leave it as it was, because you have noticed that you use more iCloud to save files than you thought, you must enter:

defaults write NSGlobalDomain NSDocumentSaveNewDocumentsToCloud -bool true

As you can see, it is a simple process of the type "copy paste" and that will save you time always looking for another saving option.
