As you probably already know, in the last few days there have been some rumors about what a new 7th generation iPod touch could be, as we already commented, which would come to replace the current 6th generation that leaves a lot to be desired in many cases, due to internal hardware that is quite outdated compared to the most current iPhones and iPads.
These rumors did not quite fit, because the truth is that many expected to see the end of this device soon and that they would not renew it, remaining in oblivion. However, little by little we have more reasons to think that Apple could be perfectly working on it, since apparently recently it has been discovered that, in the code of the first beta of iOS 12.2, there is information about this new iPod touch seventh generation.

As we have been able to know, apparently in the last beta that Apple has launched of iOS, the operating system that also incorporates the iPod touch, a series of information related to the new devices of the brand has appeared. And it is that, in the first place, there are mentions of two possible new iPads, but without a doubt the most interesting thing is related to the iPod.
And it is that, apparently, internally References to "iPod9,1" appear, which in this case should be related to the seventh generation iPod touch, taking into account that it is one more model than the current one, and that just the range touch can have iOS as operating system.
But, now, the most interesting thing about all this is that, apparently, there are no references to Touch ID as many expected, and what is perhaps worse, nothing is indicated about Face ID either, which is why it is thought that it could be like previous iPhones, and that the code is the only safe method of unlocking, something that we will probably see sooner rather than later.
