In may of this year we told you that Apple had acquired the television rights to Come From Away. A filmed version of the award-winning Broadway musical. An adaptation that began in May and now it seems that its premiere in the middle of next month of September.
Come From Away tells the story of 7.000 people who have been trapped in a small town in Newfoundland after the flights were grounded the 11 of September of 2001. The Tony and Olivier Award-winning filmed version of the Musical was filmed at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater in May with an audience that included frontline workers and 9/11 survivors.
As the people of Newfoundland graciously welcome those from afar into their community, passengers and locals process what has happened as they find love, laughter and new hopes in the unlikely and long-lasting ties they forge.
The filmed version stars Petrina Bromley, Jenn Colella, De'Lon Grant, Joel Hatch, Tony LePage, Caesar Samayoa, Q. Smith, Astrid Van Wieren, Emily Walton, Jim Walton, Sharon Wheatley, Paul Whitty. The original book, music, and lyrics for Come From Away were written by Irene Sankoff and David Hein. They will also be executive producers alongside Jon Kamen, Dave Sirulnick and Meredith Bennett. The show is choreographed by Kelly Devine, with music supervisor Ian Eisendrath.
The release date is scheduled for September 10 and it is expected that there will be no drawbacks to this. So at the beginning of next month we will have a new quality show that will join the ranks of the existing content on Apple TV +. Remember this is the first Broadway production to end on Apple TV +.
