Convert your movies to iTunes format thanks to iVI

iTunes-Series

Although there are solutions for play any type of file from your Mac to your Apple TVHaving a well-organized library in iTunes is laborious, but it is worth it, especially if you want to keep it and have it well labeled, and also want to be able to take advantage of it on all the iOS devices you have at home, because sharing that library will allow you to play them on all . There are many programs to convert the most common formats (avi, mkv ...) to a format compatible with iTunes (m4v), but the one that seems more complete, quick and easy to use is iVI. Not only does it convert the videos, but it adds all the information (cover, chapter and season number, director, actors, summary ...), it is compatible with subtitles and also, if they are already encoded in H.264, a format per other side quite common, it takes very little time to convert the movies.

iVI-1

The program is quite easy to handle, when executing it an empty window will appear, drag the movie (or the) you want to convert to that window, and it will automatically start searching the internet for the information. If the file has a correct title, it will be easy to find and it will appear green in the window. If you can't find it, don't worry because it can be searched manually. You will access the options menu for each chapter by double clicking on it.

iVI-2

If the information you have found is not correct, write the title in the first field (Series Name) and then click on the Search button. At the bottom right you have many results, in case the first one you find is not the right one, search for it and select it. As you will see, the information it collects is very complete, there is practically no data you have to add. You can even change the face if you want.

iVI-3

In the «Video and Audio» tab you can select or uncheck the video or audio tracks that you don't want included in the final file. If you want the file not to be too big, delete the audios that you don't want to include, sometimes languages come that you will surely never use.

iVI-4

You can include subtitles, both forced (always present) and optional (you can disable them). Supports many subtitle formats (SRT, VobSub, PGS, SSA / ASS), and you just have to drag them to that window to include them.

iVI-5

The configuration of the application is very intuitive, if you do not want to complicate too much, choose the device you want to play the files on, and ready. Please note that if you choose high definition formats, devices such as the iPad 1 and 2, iPhone 4 or 3GS may not be able to play them. If you want to customize the conversion more, you have more options by clicking on the top bar.

iVI-7

For example, in the «Meta-Data» tab you can choose from where to collect all the information of the movies or series. I do not advise you to change it, since the databases that come by default are excellent, but if you know another and want to change it, you can do it here.

iVI-6

And in the "Advanced" tab you can change the bitrates, which will depend on the final size of the file and its quality. As an orientation, I use the ones that appear in the image.

iVI-8

Once you have everything ready, click on "Convert all" to create a work queue, and the files will be automatically converted. Leave your computer working, and when you return you will see that everything is done. What's more, you can even configure the application to automatically include files already converted in iTunes. More comfortable impossible. It is worth paying the 8,99 euros it costs in the Mac App Store.

The program seems good to me but it does not include the subtitles, and it has the path where they are, when I pull the file for conversion the Sub column I get OK, when I double-click the file it becomes a question symbol in Red.
