Apple had a pending task in Ireland related to the beginning of the construction of a data center in County Galway, it seems that in the end after several attempts to start these works and only obtaining the refusal of the authorities of the country, Apple has a green card to start building. It is true that despite the relevant authorization from the Irish planning board, not everyone is satisfied with the start of the works due to the negative effects that this center they say could cause on the local fauna, due to the proximity to a nuclear power plant and concerns about possible flooding after work on a golf course that is located at the bottom of where this data center will be located.
As we see on the web Business Insider and in the image above these lines, Apple's data center is in the center of Derrydonnell Forest, something that does not seem to appeal to everyone but that the country's authorities confirm that there is no danger whatsoever and after several months in which the permits were not authorized, now it seems that the decision has been made.
Obviously one of the reasons why the planning body expressed its positive votes before the start of the works, is partly driven by the significant economic and employment boost for its citizens, also adding that they have tried to find other locations for this huge data center and were unable to find sites capable of meeting the connection demands they require. Hence in short, the start of the works of this data center is approved.
Originally the Cupertino company wanted to have the Irish data center completed by this next year, but with the number of construction delays due to permits denied by the country, it is now quite late and no end date.
