Desktop and screensaver settings in System Preferences

Desktop and screensavers

Continuing the series of articles in which I am going to explain how to configure the basic aspects of the Mac system, we address today the item of Desktop and screensaver that we can find within the System Preferences window.

As you can see in the opening image of this article, it is the second item of System Preferences, in which we will be able to manage certain options related to the image that will be displayed as the desktop background in addition to being able to manage everything that has to do with screensavers and hot spots.

When we work on any computer, running whatever operating system it is, we always configure this type of thing and it is best to have our workspace configured to our liking. For this reason, many users prefer to disagree with what Apple establishes with each version of macOS and change the desktop background image. In macOS as in other systems this is a very simple action we have to do from System Preferences.

When we enter Launchpad> System Preferences> Desktop & Screensaver, we see that we are shown a window in which we have two tabs.

In the first one we can configure everything that has to do with the desktop background. We can select from where the images are going to be obtained to put as a desktop background. In the left sidebar we have three pre-established categories and these are images from Apple, Photos and Folders. Clicking on each one of them gives us different options that we can preview in the right part of the window. If we want to add a new location regarding where we have the photographs that the system will use as wallpaper, we must go to the lower left corner and click on the "+".

In addition, if we go to a certain image file, whatever the location, and we right-click on it, in the floating menu that appears we are given the option to set that image as the desktop background.

In the second tab, for its part, we have the possibility to configure the operation of the different screensavers that the system has. Remember that a screensaver is used so that the image that remains on the screen does not spoil it by spending a long time displaying it. It is always good that there is a moving image on the screen so that the suffering of the pixels is much less. The Mac system It lets us select different effects for the screensaver and when we select some of them, an extra configuration is allowed.

Finally, there is the configuration of the active corners, which we have already explained in another article that we link you here. You can configure each of the four corners so that the system executes an action when you move the mouse cursor to each of them.
