A developer demonstrates the picture in picture feature on Apple TV

Apple TV 4-picture in picture-pip-0

Since the new generation of Apple TV was presented, many users have complained about the lack of a series of options that in my opinion are quite important and not because they consider them essential, but because services such as Netflix or other platforms in streaming already offer this possibility. I am referring to 4K content playback, a resolution that today is not yet the most widespread resolution in televisions and projectors for home users, but it does have a large installed base for Apple to have considered.

In addition to this option, another would be the possibility of using the PiP (Picture in Picture) function or what is the same, being able to play two content simultaneously in different windows. A function that many televisions already have natively and that Apple has not included as standard in its Apple TV. However, thanks to the expertise of a developer, we can see a glimpse of what this function would be if it were implemented on the Apple device.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzNET7KWT2ISi miramos atrás, the main novelty of iOS 9 It was precisely the introduction of PiP in some compatible iPad models, an ideal multitasking function to watch videos while browsing the web or reviewing a document in addition to many other functions. As I have mentioned before and strangely enough, the Apple TV which is essentially a multimedia entertainment system in itself, does not come with a similar function for users who want to perform these types of tasks more efficiently.

However, the developer Steve Troughton-Smith has made a demonstration of how he has implemented and developed this feature on Apple TV 4 through a custom app he made for himself, showing that the hardware inside the Apple TV in the latest firmware version is capable of this and much more, just as it has previously happened by getting install an adapted version of Safari on the Apple TV.

Let's hope that in the next version of the system software, Apple finally decides to include it or at least at WWDC 2016 that is to come this summer, we can see something similar.
