DigiTimes Says 4nm Processors Will Be From TSMC

TSMC

It seems that Apple continues to seek to improve in every way the M1 of the Mac and the one in charge of manufacturing these new processors for Apple would be TSMC almost exclusively. These new processors would be manufactured in 4nm as explained in DigiTimes.

The reservation of these processors for Macs goes hand in hand with the processors that will arrive with the new iPhone models, which will also arrive from TSMC. In principle, Apple chips seek improve efficiency and add more power in addition to reducing size.

It seems clear then that TSMC will have the majority of the cake in the manufacture of this important component in the Macs of the future. Research and development continues to seek to mass manufacture the 3nm and 2nm chips, but this for now is a bit further and for now they settle for 4nm.

Apple does not want problems and has already made the reservation of part of this production for its teams. It is possible that this year's new Macs have improvements over the current M1, this is obvious, so looking beyond this next generation is something that Apple is sure they are doing and TSMC would be part of these plans.

Now we have the 13-inch MacBook Air, Mac mini, and MacBook Pros with the M1 although it is expected that this year the rest of Apple computers will make the final leap except the Mac Pro. This Mac Pro could enter into Apple's future plans to add its own processors, the rest of the equipment is the present.
