Support for Apple Pay in Catalyst applications discovered in macOS Big Sur beta 2

Apple Pay

Craig Federighi showed us two weeks ago in the Keynote presentation of the WWDC 2020 the project Apple silicon. That means the narrow gauge on which Mac freight trains run will die within a few years.

In a few months we will start to see new freight trains with a new gauge, and they will run on the high-speed rails of iPhones and iPads. And these new trains will adapt many functions of the current high-speed AVEs that fly via iOS-iPadOS. One of those new features was discovered today: Apple Pay in Catalyst Apps for Mac.

Yesterday afternoon Apple released the second betas of your next firmwares this year. Commented yesterday that we would be waiting for the developers in case they find any new function not enabled in the first betas.

Well, just a few hours later we already have the first one found in the second beta of macOS Big Sur: Apple is now adding support for Apple Pay for Catalyst applications in macOS Big Sur beta 2.

The addition of Apple's Payment API for Catalyst apps is mentioned in the release notes for iOS 14 beta 2 and macOS Big Sur beta 2. According to Apple, the developers will not have big changes to make Apple Pay work in Catalyst apps.

Apple Pay integrated into Catalyst apps

IPad apps that run natively on an Apple Silicon Mac will work with Apple Pay automatically from day one without any change In the code.

While Apple Pay is primarily known for offering payments NFC On the iPhone and Apple Watch, Mac and iPad users will also be able to use the service to make one-click website and app purchases.

No doubt this new addition of Apple Pay on Macs will further drive adoption of Apple's payment service, especially as the company is encouraging developers to offer iPad applications on Mac. There are already several Apple Pay-compatible applications available for iOS and iPadOS, and these applications can now be made available to Mac users.

We will continue to await new news in case you find any new features in the second betas released yesterday.
