Do not place your LG UltraFine 5K Display near the Router

During 2016 Apple decided to replace what until now was its flagship monitor for image quality and connectivity. We are talking about the well-known Apple Thunderbolt Display. But we soon met his replacement. From the hand of LG we got to know the Range UltraFine 5k and 4k. The 5 k version was released at the end of December 2016. The price of the monitor is € 1.299,99, but if you buy it before March 31, its price is 1.049,00 €. The connection is another strong point of this monitor, as it takes advantage of the new Thunderbolt ports.

Today we have met incidents reported by various users in relation to the location of the LG UltraFine 5k monitor. Specifically those who have the router and the screen within 2 meters, are encountering problems when working. In fact, some claim that the hardware may be rendered useless if you continue working at that distance.

A user who uses his MacBook Pro at home and at work, have observed that working near the router the screen would disconnect very frequently, even freezing the Mac. These problems were only resolved after restarting the computer. However, your Mac works fine when you used it in the location where the router is not nearby.

The first thing he thought was an incompatibility with a team, but then he decided check the LG page. A user of the monitor had described that the intensity of the screen varied according to the current Wi-Fi traffic.

Soon LG responded to the user:

The user who was searching on the LG page, found the solution by moving the router to another room and he describes us that since then he has not suffered any disconnection or problem with the image. Therefore, it considers its issue resolved.

It is true that in the instructions of the equipment it appears that the operation of the equipment may be affected by electromagnetic interference, but it does not specify that an element as common in a home as the router, directly affects its operation.

Surely LG is working on a prompt solution to this problem.
