According to media with a presence in the White House, after yesterday's news, in which Tim Cook assured that he would bring a large part of the profits generated by Apple abroad to the North American country to invest in local improvements, Donald Trump called Cook to congratulate him on the management carried out and to thank him.
According to Bloomberg, the $ 350 billion that Apple will repatriate from the profits obtained in recent years outside the American borders, pleasantly surprised the president-elect of the United States. For this reason, and although there is no official confirmation yet, it seems that Trump called Cook by phone to thank him for the effort to invest in the local country.
During a rally in Pennsylvania, Trump recounted his reaction upon hearing the news:
When you heard the news yesterday, I heard that Apple repatriated $ 350 million, a significant amount. And they told me no, it would be $ 350 billion. I could'nt believe it."
"I just called Tim Cook to say thank youI firmly believe that this is the largest investment of any company in the history of the United States. "
As we know, relations between the White House and the Cupertino-based company have progressively deteriorated after the arrival of the new American president just over a year ago. Donald Trump has always been a serious opponent of many of the practices supported and carried out by Apple. In fact, Trump assured during the campaign for the presidency that he would force Apple to manufacture "its damn computers and other things in this country."
It has not been less on the part of Apple. Even Tim Cook was seen campaigning against the current president., supporting much of his opposition. However, it seems that the announcement of this great investment to the North American country (promoted by a tax reform approved by President Trump himself) has softened the tone between both parties.
It's okay for an American company to want to help its country by bringing wealth to it, and at least Donald Trump has appreciated it.
