Elon Musk raises his voice against Apple for its policy in the App Store and the cobalt of batteries in the Mac

Elon Musk criticizes Apple

Elon Musk: Genius and figure to…; A brilliant person in what he does but not always in what he says. No one can deny that he is a true genius with his products and projects and an exceptional businessman, but there are times when the fish dies from the mouth. I don't mean what he says, but how he says it. This time it was not the most popular and we have to focus on what he said. He dismisses Apple as a monopoly company and contrary to the integrity and conservation of the planet. He may not be wrong but he is not 100% true either.

In presenting the status of Tesla's accounts, its CEO, Elon Musk, criticized Apple for its App Store policy, as well as the use of cobalt in iPhone and Mac batteries. He mentioned that Apple's policy on reference to the App Store is to be doing what is known as Walled Garden (walled garden): a practice used to keep the user within a certain platform in order to collect their data. Elon Musk says that Apple's platforms are not essentially like that because the integration of software and hardware works better, but because the user has no escape and if he wants something, it must be how and when Apple says.

I think we want to emphasize that our goal is to support the advent of sustainable energy. It's not about creating a walled garden and use it to beat up our competitors, what some companies use.

A collation of this comment and continuing with the objective of a more sustainable energy, Mr. Musk also criticized the use of cobalt batteries in Macs among other devices:

I think apple uses almost 100% cobalt in its batteries, phones and laptops, But Tesla does not use cobalt in iron-phosphate packages, and almost nothing in nickel-based chemicals. On a weighted average basis, we could use 2% cobalt compared to, say, Apple's 100% cobalt.
