Enjoy Game Boy games on your Apple Watch

It is not the first time, nor will it be the last, that a developer installs an operating system on a device for which it is not designed. A few days ago a developer managed to emulate a version of Windows XP on an iPhone 7 and although the result left a lot to be desired, we can see that the imagination of some developers has no limits. In the absence of applications specifically designed for the Apple Watch, let alone games, a developer just showed the first images of the Game Boy emulator in which he is working, an emulator that will allow us, saving the distances, to enjoy our favorite games from our wrist.

This emulator, named Giovanni is open source and available to any developer on GitHub. As it is still in the first versions, the development of the games is slower than we could wish at first, but it's an impressive feat considering both hardware and software limitations offered by the Apple Watch.

According to the developer, one of the aspects that raised the most difficulties for him was that he used the buttons to be able to enjoy the emulator. The crown of the Apple Watch allows us to move up or down while to move from right to left we just have to tap on the screen. For the action buttons we also have to click on the central area of the device, bottom, while at the top are the Start and Select buttons.

Obviously it is not the ideal distribution for all users but due to lack of space, andThe developer has tried his best so that you can enjoy the games, even for a few minutes. For now, the developer claims that he has released the code and will not touch it again until Apple officially presents watchOS 4, which will be released in beta next June within the framework of the WWDC.
