The keyboard shortcuts, especially in Excel, allow us to get the most out of this application avoiding distractions that force us to search the menus for the options we need, especially if they are recurring.

Select cells with keyboard shortcuts in Excel

  • Select the column of the active cell: Control + Spacebar
  • Select the row of the active cell: Shift + Spacebar
  • Select the sheet: Command + A
  • Select visible cells: Command + Shift + Asterisk (*)
  • Expand the selection by one cell: Shift + Arrow
  • Expand the selection to the beginning of the row: Shift + Home or Shift + Fn + Left Arrow
  • Extend the selection to the beginning of the sheet: Control + Shift + Home or Control + Shift + Fn + Left Arrow
  • Expand the selection by one screen: Shift + Page Down or Shift + Fn + Down Arrow
  • Expand the selection up on a screen: Shift + Page Up or Shift + Fn + Up Arrow
  • Expand the selection to the last cell used: Control + Shift + End or Control + Shift + Fn + Right Arrow

Edit cells with keyboard shortcuts in Excel

  • Edit the active cell: Control + U
  • Edit the selected cell: F2
  • Copy text, numbers, or formulas: Command + C
  • Cut text, numbers, or formulas: Command + X
  • Paste text, numbers, or formulas: Command + V
  • Special glue: Command + Option + V
  • Delete: Delete
  • Undo: Command + Z
  • Redo: Command + Y
  • Hide a column: Command + Right Parenthesis or Control + Right Parenthesis
  • Hide a row: Command + Left Parenthesis or Control + Left Parenthesis
  • Show a column: Command + Shift + right parenthesis or Control + Shift + right parenthesis
